Embrace the Camera

So my friend ordered me encouraged me to try out this link-up she ran across.  It's called Embrace the Camera.  The short of it is that moms take tons of pictures of everyone else but are rarely in front of the camera.  Another blogger mom noticed that she didn't have a lot of pictures of her with her mom and didn't want that to be the case with her and her children.  So she started a link-up to encourage other moms to take a picture of themselves involved in their kids lives once a week.  And then you link up.

It's a great idea in theory.  Who doesn't want their kids to have pictures of them to remember the good times by?  Of course that involves taking pictures of yourself that others can see.  I've packed on some extra pounds lately, so that doesn't thrill me.  LOL  So this project will serve 2 purposes for me: To include myself in our family memories and to get on the elliptical machine when I don't feel like it.   Bonus!

Since I happen to have some recent pictures of me and my kidlets, I figured I might as well start today.  So here are a few shots from our recent trip to NYC.  I want to live near Central Park now.  I need more money.  =o)

Weeklly Wrap-Up

I've been MIA from the wrap-up for a couple of weeks.  We've been MIA from our normal lives. LOL

Last weekend we went to NYC and this weekend we're at my dads.  Between the two trips we've done about 2 days of school.  So this week I decided that I'd show the highlights of our trip to NYC.  It was the first time for all of us and we had a great time.

Our first stop was The American Museum of Natural History.  Naturally, Mackenzie was trying to find the things that were in the movie.  That was a little tough because the museum is HUGE and there was massive amounts of unruly school groups.

Then we traipsed through Centeral Park in a quest to find The Plaza and FAO Schwarz.  Central Park was my favorite place in the city.  I now want to live by.  It's the awesomest backyard ever with none of the maintenance. LOL  It was exciting to see things that we've seen in movies or read about in books.  We imagined all of Peter Hatchers favorite spots from Tales of a 4th Grade nothing.

I have tons more pictures but I'm at my dad's and his internet service is s-l-o-w, so I'm giving up.  If you look back at some of my recent posts you can see some of the highlights in scrapbook form.  We visited Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the giant Toys R Us, American Girl, M&M world, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building.

Mackenzie had her last piano lesson of 2010 yesterday and they did a little mini-recital.  Here she is playing We wish you a Merry Christmas.  Her teacher just raves about her and would like to see her in private lessons so she can work ahead even more.

December Daily

This month I'm tackling a little project called December Daily.  In short it's a mini-scrapbook album that documents the 25 days leading up to Christmas.  (Or longer if you choose.)

A friend of mine has done it for the last couple of years and I've always admired that keepsake.  So I'm giving it a whirl.  The creator, Ali Edwards, does these elaborate books that are a paper/digital hybrid with all sorts of cute extras.  I cannot do any of that.  I'm not creative and it's too much work.  I don't like too much work.  =o)  So I'm doing a very simplified version so that I'll actually keep up with it.  I'll be going almost all digital and my pages will be very, very, very simple.

Since it's December 1st, I've completed my first page.  Here it is.

Tomorrow we hit the road for NYC for a long week-end.  I'm bringing my laptop so I can amuse myself while the kidlets sleep.  It shouldn't be a problem for me to keep up since I'm going digital.  I can just print them all out when I get home.
