Weekly Wrap-Up: Going Batty

Funny how yesterday was Friday and I'm having trouble remembering what we did already. LOL I'm getting old.

I'll start with the most memorable...We enjoyed a fun day at the Virginia Living Museum with our best buddies.  And guess what their new exhibit was on?  Bats!  Guess what unit we just finished in science?  Bats!   I love it when things work out unexpectedly.

And speaking of science,  Mackenzie and her dad got out the Bubble Gum Factory kit that she got for Christmas.  That was a lot of messy fun.

We took a break from our normal LA this week and started working on a research paper.  She's chosen penguins as her topic.    We've been working on putting things into our own words and differentiating facts from opinion.  Next week we start her outline and some research.

In history we've been studying the growth of the U.S.  Growth as in huge bridges, skyscrapers and cities.   And now we're moving on to the Panama Canal and the Spanish-American War.

We just started Reading Little Britches and she absolutely loves it.  I was a little worried since it could be considered a "boy book" but SL pics have no gender barriers at our house.  She also finished reading about George Washington Carver.

She continues to excel with her piano lessons.  She only has 10 pages left in her book and her teacher has her learning different chords.  We're so proud of her.

The first basketball game of the year was a good one.  Her team won and she didn't duck as often as she did last season. LOL  She even started taking shoots!  Yay!!!

And that was our week.  Pop over to Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers to check out other wrap-ups.
