Tot School
Kayleigh is 36 months old
This week we started back with our letter recognition. We left off on the letter J. We didn't get to all of our activities so we're going to keep on with J next week.

Sorting Big and Little J/j from COAH. Kayleigh did a great job!
She also did COAH's Jesus letter match.
She practiced some fine motor skills and following directions by doing a couple of pages in our Kumon Let's Color books.
I got out the button snake I made and she played with that a lot this week. She didn't really care for it the last time I got it out.
I got out clothespins, regular and mini, so she could work those little fingers. She started to get the hang of it with the larger ones but still couldn't work with the mini clips.
She got asked to get out her Melissa and Doug Puzzle book. She was able to find the J for me. Yay!!
And we had a last hurrah with our February sensory bin.

Weekly Wrap-Up
Another week down another week where I'm late with my wrap-up. LOL
It was an average kind of week. Nothing terribly exciting happened.
We are wrapping up our study on WW1. We're still plugging away at our lapbook. We haven't been working on it daily and that is the issue. LOL On the bright side she still LOVES the type-it in feature. Woot!!
She's started a new poem in First Language Lessons and we did a review on dictionary skills. So exciting. Or not. LOL
We're still reading through Cheaper By the Dozen and I was thrilled to see that Netflix streaming has an older version of the movie that is more like the book. Finely something on streaming that I can use for school. I was getting ready to cancel it. (Our neighborhood, for whatever reason, has no outgoing mail. Thus Netflix discs require me to make a trip to the post office that I don't want to make.)
We're still working on our penguin report for science. It's not done for the same reason that our WW1 lapbook isn't. She's finished taking notes, has an outline, so we're almost done. We're finishing it this week or else! Or else we'll be doing it next week too. LOL The weather looks like it might stay a tad warmer so we should be able to move on to our study on insects.
Since Mackenzie finished her reader, All of a Kind Family, really early she's been reading Harry Potter. She's been too afraid to in the past. (Grandma let her watch the first movie when she was 5 and that didn't go over too well. Scared the life out of her.) But she decided that she's ready. I guess so. She started last Saturday and 7 days later she's half-way through book 4.
We're still working on learning to type with DanceMat typing. I forgot to enter it into HST so she only did it a couple of times last week. I haven't done this week's lesson plans yet. Hopefully, I'll remember to enter it. =o)
She came home from piano very excited. She's finished her book and is getting a new one. She was practically giddy.

L.E.N.S. Photo Challenge~Red Edition
I haven't done one of these photo challenges in forever. Not because I haven't been taking photos but because life has been so busy that I just haven't been blogging as much as I'd like. At any rate, I saw this challenge and I happen to have taking a lot of red photo's last weekend. So I'm taking a minute and posting one.
It's my daughter's third birthday cake. Getting that icing for the barn red was no joke. And we all had red teeth afterward. LOL

Tot School: The One Where We Had Another Birthday Party
Kayleigh is 36 months old
and I don't like that! LOL
Love was in the air. Not just because of Valentines Day but because it was Kayleigh's party this week. Party preparations took some of the wind out of our tot school sails this week but we did a few fun things.
We made some candy necklaces on Valentines Day. Kayleigh was really into it. She doesn't normally like stringing. Apparently candy is key to this activity for her. LOL
We worked on her writing skills with this adorable Valentine's printable from 2 Teaching Mommies.
We played this Roll and Count game, also from 2 Teaching Mommies. We rolled the die, counted the dots, and covered that many spaces with CANDY HEARTS!! Kayleigh talks about candy hearts all year long.
Then we graphed candy hearts and ate them. This was also from 2 Teaching Mommies.
We used the Count and Clip cards from 2 Teaching Mommies. (I bet you could've guessed that. LOL) She's not that good at clipping yet so we counted, she'd point to the correct number (or her dog would), and I'd clip on the clothes pin. She did give the clipping a bit of a go but it winds up frustrating her. She's getting better though.
She did some more tonging of the foam hearts. The tongs came from a kids cooking set from IKEA. They are by far the easiest for her to use. And both girls love the rest of the set.
She graduated from the mommy and me class to a...gasp...big girl class at the Little Gym. Wahhhh!!! The poor picture quality is because I was on the other side of the glass. Sniff...
4 days after last weeks snow, we hit 70 and the a few days later 78. So we played a lot at the park.
And we had a birthday party for our 3 year old girl.
